Tip Tuesdays Kinda Sexy Vitamins

It’s valentines day and so the Tip Tuesday for today is going to be all about vitamins!…

Kinda sexy ones.

Of course there are many vitamins, minerals, and herbs that could play a roll in increasing sexual energy or drive, either directly or by helping support other functions that might, in turn, help support those aspects of life. I had a long list even, of all the ones I was going to go through. But today were keeping it short and simple, so you can get back to it…. the day that is.

So I’m actually going to go down the energy road and talk about B vitamins. These guys are water soluble, which means that they are not easily stored in the body (they are expelled through urine and sweat). This also means that there is little concern for toxicity, besides maybe some alarmingly bright yellow pee…. Taking a b-complex supplement or making sure you eat a well balanced diet with lots of foods containing these vitamins are essential for many reasons but today, remember, we are just going to focus on the sexy stuff, well sort of.

The B’s in general are key components to energy metabolism, cellular energy production, and nervous system function. So while not what you might typically think of when it comes to sex drive, they can be something to reach for if your problems stem from fatigue, stress, or just general low drive from lack of energy. There is B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), and B5 (pantothenic acid).  There is B6 (pyridoxine) which is needed to metabolize glycogen, the bodies storage form of glucose (the fuel we run off of for energy). Also B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid). Lastly there is B12 (cobalamin) which is known for its energy boosting abilities, and often deficiency in it can produce symptoms of chronic fatigue and depression, among other things. It stands to reason then, that these guys would be helpful when it comes to sexual energy, and energy of course in general. Fatigue does not equal fun times… ahem…. The b vitamins also play a role in increasing testosterone, so bonus! (particularly if you are male of course.)

Laura W. Smith wrote an article for here and says

Vitamins B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5 and B-12 can help increase sexual desire. These types of vitamins directly affect blood flow, much like vitamin E. Vitamin B-12 is often used to boost mood and energy levels in people who experience mild depression symptoms. B-12’s mood enhancing benefits are helpful in the sex life as well.

So cook up some shellfish, chicken, or fish, some potatoes with mushrooms, have some almonds or cheese, enjoy yourself some food and some vitamins and happy Valentines day!
